AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): CPI-M party on Wednesday organized a protest rally against increasing crime against women in Tripura. The rally started from Melarmath party office and walked around the city demanding the police’s rapid action to solve the crime cases at a faster pace. Talking to the media, CPI-M leader Ratan Das said since April 8, there have been 14 dangerous crimes against women.
“Not all cases are registered! Tripura police hesitate to handle cases at a fast pace. There are attempts to go for mutual understanding of the cases. Due to political pressure, the investigation gets into slow motion, and external pressure remains to resolve the matters out of the court,” said Das.
“We want strict and fast action in such cases,” said Das. “Against the rising brutality, rapes, gang-rapes and tortures on women, this protest is dedicated.”
