AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): “They have an attachment with the Congress party because Congress is in their DNAs,” said Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, referring to the Tripura BJP leadership. The issue was raised after former Congress President, currently the chairman of BJP’s alliance regional party Tipra Motha Pradyot Debbbarma visited Congress party headquarters at Post Office Chowmuhani on Wednesday evening to return Congress flags kept in stock in his residency for a while.
“I’m happy that instead of destroying Congress flags, he (Pradyot Debbarman) chose to return these flags to use. Those flags came from the central Congress when he was in Congress. We admire his attitude,” Barman told the media.
“There was no political motive behind his visit. I was not in the party office, even though he looked for me. But eventually he could meet the state party president Asish Saha and a few other leaders,” Barman said.
“BJP only started the culture of political division and we need to break it. Regardless of political choice, people can have connections. Also, Pradyot Debbarman was in Congress and he still loves Congress. Congress is in his DNA, and also the majority of the BJP leaders here have the Congress’s DNA,” added Barman.
