AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): Agartala GRP police successfully nabbed four persons in connection with drug trafficking. The arrests took place in two different raids.
The group of drug peddlers was on their way to move outside the state via train, but before they could depart from the station, police caught them.
Total of 22 KG 775 Gram dry cannabis was seized from them, which was kept in 13 containers.
The accused earlier used various trains to smuggle cannabis but it was their first attempt via Agartala Railway station.
OC of Agartala GRP Police Station Tapas Das told the media that there might be more arrests in the coming days in connection with the drug peddling network. Right now, police are interrogating the arrestees.
In Punjab, the cost of the drugs would be over Rs. 4.55 lakhs.
The arrested persons are – Billal Hossain (36), resident of Boxanagar, Pintu Sarkar (31), resident of Kashia Mangal, Teliamura.
Rosonna Dev and Ranju Devi-- the two women who were arrested in a different raid are residents of Katia District, Bihar.
