AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Hours after Congress MLA Sudip Barman accused the Tripura government of handing over land to a private company without tender, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, there is no need for such tenders when any company wants to invest in the state. The SHIJA hospital which has its main office in Imphal is going to invest Rs. 900 crores in Tripura. When a company invests Rs. 900 crores, naturally government has to allocate land, said Sushanta Chowdhury. The Minister also gave example of ILS Hospital which got land in the previous Left Front government’s time. Sushanta Chowdhury said such rules exist in the state which allows the government to allocate lands for state development.

He further gave the example of Kachar Cancer Hospital in North Tripura which also got land in the same way.
“The SHIJA Superspeciality hospital has been approaching the government for land since December 2023. A letter was sent to DM West first and then all processes were followed. I think he (Sudip Barman) was in a hurry to bring the allegation against the government but he can not do anything. It’s not so easy to damage the reputation of the government,” added Chowdhury.
