AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): Social media is not always bad, but it can bring justice. Two traffic police officials were harassed, and verbally abused by three youths in Agartala, Netaji Chowmuhani. The incident recently happened but no case was registered until yesterday after TIWN and various other state media posted the news on social media pages. The common men came with sharp reactions, and the Congress party staged a protest at the SDPO office asking, what is stopping police from taking action against them. SP Kiran Kumar after the arrest told media that police are taking strict actions against them and also security has been beefed up centering on the upcoming Durga puja.
Congress also alleged, three of the abusers belonged to BJP party and they worked for BJP’s infamous bike-gang who were engaged multiple times to vandalize opposition programs and attack voters ahead of election.
Police however lodged FIR yesterday and one was arrested yesterday night. Two more are absconding. The arrested person is Dip Datta, a resident of AD Nagar, Agartala.
Dip Datta along with his two friends were roaming on scooty without any helmet and when police asked, they threatened the official and used extremely rude, abusive words against the official. When another traffic official tried to stop them, they threatened him too.
