AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): Congress party on Saturday staged a protest at the Sadar SDPO office over harassment of Traffic Police official by some rowdy youth in Agartala, Netaji Chowmuhani. Congress party alleged these youth are BJP party’s goons and integral part of BJP’s infamous bike-gang, chappa-vote casting gang. “The BJP organized protests alleging oppositions’ allegations are false and the state has established law and order under the BJP government. But such scenarios show where the law and order stand. BJP’s bike gangs do not even spare the traffic police officials and their behavior and dare have shocked us. Why has police failed to lodge a suo moto case yet?”
Congress protested at the SDPO office after some rowdy youth harassed Traffic Police.
The protest erupted after a video was made viral on social media where some youth were harassing a traffic police official with extremely abusing words and threatful expressions.

West District Police has posted on social media, “A Video surfaced on social media showing a hot altercation between a Traffic Police Officer and some public.In this connection a specific case has been registered vide West Agt. PS Case No. 2024 WAG 117, U/S 132/351(2)(3)/3(5) of BNS & Section 3 (1)(r)(s) of the Schedules Castes & The Schedules Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. Investigation is in progress. Strict actions will be taken against the people involved. All are requested to cooperate with Police for the greater interest of the society.”
So far no arrest has been made in this incident. Congress said, it reflects CM Dr. Manik Saha’s total failure to control his party workers amid the incident that happened in his own constituency.
