AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN): The impact of the cyclone formed in the Bay of Bengal will also affect the state Tripura too on May 26-27, said the Meteorological Department. Talking to media, a Meteorological Department official said, that tomorrow there are possibilities of heavy rain and on May 26 and 27 the effect would be severe. Light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places. “A low-pressure area has been created in Bay of Bengal’s Southwest area and is expected to intensify into cyclonic storm. Its movement is now towards Northeast and by 25th morning it will result in a cyclonic storm," said Parha Roy, Meterological department official.
"By 26th it will reach ill Bangladesh and West Bengal cost areas and turn into severe cyclonic storms. It will affect Tripura too,” he said.
On 26th May, South, Gomati Sepahijala subdivisions will be affected by a cyclone, and heavy rain is expected there. The wind will flow at per 40 to 50 km speed along with thunderstorms. A yellow alert has been imposed there.
“Squally weather with wind speeds reaching 40 to 50n kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, is likely over the central and adjoining South Bay of Bangal.
On 27th, North Tripura, Dhalai, Khowai, and Unakoti will witness heavy rain.
