AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha while addressing a joining program in Town Bordowali on Thursday said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s excellent decision on Article 370’s abrogation will eable the BJP to win with over 370 seats in the upcoming general election. CM was addressing a joining program where 115 voters joined BJP from various parties. CM said, Modi ji has targeted to cross 370 whereas with help of other alliance parties 400 is the target. “PM Modi calls himself Chowkidar which means he wants to give a transparent govt. But such transparency and corruption free government was not seen in the UPA time. With family background with poverty, PM Modi who sold chai in the rail station in childhood, is now leading the nation with pride. He sourced courage to Indians to see dreams,” added Dr Saha.
On 5 August 2019, the Government of India issued a Presidential Order superseding the 1954 order, and making all the provisions of the Indian constitution applicable to Jammu and Kashmir. The order was based on the resolution passed in both houses of India's parliament with two-thirds majority. In addition, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 was passed by the parliament, enacting the division of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories to be called Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh. The reorganisation took place on 31 October 2019. A total of 23 petitions were presented to the Supreme Court of India, challenging the constitutionality of the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, which constituted a five judge bench for the same. On 11 December 2023, a five judge constitution bench unanimously upheld the constitutionality of the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.
