AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): Increasing illegal border activities via Tripura borders continue amid regular actions taken by police. Seven Bangladeshi citizens have been arrested by Agartala Railway police on Sunday and are to be produced before the court. Agartala Railway Station OC–Tapas Das said out of the 7 arrested Bangladeshi citizens, two were women whereas two were wearing women’s attire. 7 of them were traveling to Chennai via Kanchunjunga Express. Getting information from secret sources, Railway police detained them and after interrogation, it was revealed that 7 of them were Bangladeshi.
Smart phones were found from them which are now seized as a part of interrogation.
The arrested illegally entered Bangladesh citizens entered Tripura today only via the border and it took around 1 hour to reach Agartala Railway station via the border.
OC Tapas Das said, why two of the men were wearing women attire, it has to be checked.
“We initially thought that they are transgenders but later, it was revealed that they are men. It’s guessed that to stay unnoticed in women’s attire can be the reason behind that but police are now investigating if there is any further reason behind it. The phones will be thoroughly checked to find if any sensitive information is found from them,” said the police official.
