AGARTALA, March 19 (TIWN): In a successful raid, the Sepahijala District Forest Department office seized illegal wood-carrying vehicles, sawmills and other equipment that are used for wood-cutting illegally in the forest area.
District Forest Officer Sumit Das was informed about the illegal activity via his sources. In the raid, the Bishlagrah SDFO also accompanied.
The raid was targeted in the Taltala area where the illegal activities were going on and then sold the illegal items in the market.
At first in the Ganiamura area a vehicle bearing number TR01Z1636 was seized but the wood smugglers managed to escape from the spot. Then the main vehicle was also seized along with few other machines.
The official said, after identifying the culprits, proper action will be taken place.
