AGARTALA, March 9 (TIWN): After Congress declared its candidate name for the West Tripura constituency, CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, talks are still underway regarding Lok Sabha candidates’ selection with Congress. Jitendra Chowdhury confirmed that CPI-m is fully under the INDIA alliance and at the national level, discussions are taken place. “Whether we stay in power or not, but CPI-M will always raise its voice for the common men. We do not want anti-BJP votes to be divided. Congress wanted a shared seat distribution in this Lok Sabha poll and they already declared its candidate for 1 seat. We asked for both two seats for CPI-M seeking support from the Congress. But whatever the final decision would be taken, anti-BJP votes should not be divided,” said Jitendra Chowdhury.
“You must have seen, politburo member cum our former chief minister Manik Sarkar appealed all anti-BJP parties to align with CPI-M. Because BJP should be unpowered. Otherwise, people’s problems will not be solved,” said Jitendra Chowdhury.
The statement came after Congress declared its Tripura President Asish Saha’s name as West Tripura constituency candidate. Jitendra Chowdhury said a final decision will be taken under the INDIA alliance at the national level.
The CPI-M state secretary also slammed Tipra Motha party after it aligned with BJP Govt, alleging, Tipra Motha worked to gather anti-BJP votes in its favor and then to extend support to BJP after 2023 assembly poll. Chowdhury said, ‘It was fully planned and now exposed’.
Jitendra Chowdhury has appealed to voters not to fall into any trap and to vote for the INDIA alliance ‘if’ they think BJP should be removed from the power.
