AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy in Budget 2023-24 said that the State Govt to spend Rs. 1360 Crore for Roadways Development in 2023-24 and also to add environment friendly vehicle system. He declared, “The State Government will bring new ‘Vehicle Scrapping Policy, 2023’ under which more than 15(fifteen) years old Government vehicles will be scrapped and replaced with environment friendly vehicles. The State Government will set up a multimodal logistics park at Udaipur for development of Inland Water Transport in Tripura. In order to stop accident at unmanned railway crossing, Ministry of Railway, Government of India has sanctioned 23 (twenty three) Road Over Bridges (ROB) for the state. The work for 12 (twelve) such projects with an outlay of Rs. 117 Cr is in progress and DPR preparation for remaining 11 (eleven) ROBs is under progress”.
“I have provided an outlay of about Rs. 1360 Cr for Road Sector”, said Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
“State Government is committed for strengthening connectivity & logistics hub for transnational trade & communication. Letter of Award (LOA) for operation of International flights on Agartala-Chittagong-Agartala has already been issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) to M/s Spice Jet Airlines on 12.09.2022, for which State Government has already sanctioned Rs. 15 Cr. The State Cabinet has approved the ‘Tripura Electric Vehicle Policy, 2022’ for transition of state’s transportation sector towards electric based mobility, reduce air pollution and promote Tripura as eco-friendly tourist destination”, he said.
“I propose to construct new motor stands at Gandatwisa, Jirania, Melagarh and Jolaibari during this year with an outlay of Rs. 25 Cr. I also propose to construct office building of the Transport Commissioner at Agartala and 4(four) District Transport Offices for South Tripura, Sepahijala, Khowai and Unakoti Districts with an outlay of Rs. 50 Cr. “, Roy said.
Roads and Bridges: “During FY 2022-23, the work of improvement of 231 KM of road length and maintenance of 224 KM of road length has been done and 5 RCC bridges have been completed. During FY 2022-23, 123 KM of PMGSY roads have been completed to provide all weather connectivity to 10 habitations. During the year 2022-23, 150 KM National Highways and 23 KM State Highways have been constructed. 134. During the FY 2023-24, about 280 KM of roads will be improved, 2,388 KM road will be repaired and 10 new RCC bridges will be constructed. Moreover, 340 KM PMGSY roads will be constructed to connect 38 habitations by all-weather roads. About 76 KM National Highways, 85 KM State Highways & 3 ROBs will also be constructed in the State. 22 135. I also propose to construct 64 Type-III and 64 Type-II quarters at Kunjaban with an outlay of Rs. 62 Cr for employees’ accommodation”, said the Finance Minister.
