AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has placed budget on July 7 to improve the TSECL’s network system’s development and many other things. In the budget speech, Roy said about Power Dept that is under now Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, “The Project agreement for Asian Development Bank assisted (Rs. 2275 Cr) ‘Tripura Power Distribution Strengthening and Generation Efficiency Improvement Project’ was signed with DEA and ADB in Dec 2022. This is the largest ever project investment in the power sector in Tripura, a historic moment for the State. State is implementing ‘Revamped reformed based result-linked Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)’ with an outlay of over Rs. 800 Cr to improve operational and financial viability of the Existing electricity network system of TSECL”

“A new company ‘Tripura Power Transmission Ltd. (TPTL)’ has been formed to strengthen transmission infrastructure in the State. MoU was signed with the renewal energy division of NTPC towards setting up 130 MW floating Solar Power plant with an investment of about Rs. 700 Cr in Tripura”, Roy stated.

“A feasibility study will be conducted to study the possibility of establishing small hydro power plants in Tripura. The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) has earned nationwide fame by providing renewable energy to the far-flung areas of the state which has impacted the life of the people of the remotest corner of the state”, the Finance Minister said.

“Last year Hon’ble Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Bhai Modiji while interacting with beneficiaries appreciated the work. Under ‘Grameen Bazaar Alok Jyoti Project’ a total of 1,291 rural and remote markets are being illuminated by installing 15,000 Solar Street Lighting Systems with cost of Rs. 33 Cr. Under PM KUSUM scheme, TREDA will install 4020 solar pumps in non-grid areas at the project cost of Rs. 121 Cr. Out of which, 2600 pumps have already been installed. I am happy to inform this august house that Central Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 81 Cr. for setting up of Solar Micro Grids in Tripura under PMDevINE scheme and 274 remote habitations will be covered through such solar micro grids”, he added.
