 Tripura all set to observe 65th Republic Day, security tighten

Agartala, January 25 (TIWN): Amid tight security, along with the entire country, the people of Tripura all set to celebrate 65th Republic Day in a befitting manner throughout various day-long programmes on Monday. To mark the R-Day, almost all the schools, colleges, government and non-government organizations are prepared to host National Flag with full dignity.

As part of day-long celebration, the main function will take place at Assam Rifles ground. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar would host the National Flag while the jawans of Assam Rifles would stage parade here tomorrow.

Tripura Power Minister Manik Dey would pay tribute to Gandhi Bedi at Gandhighat and would pay tribute to the martyrs at Sahid Bedi after hosting the National Flag in Post Office Chowmohani around 7 am and 7.30 am respectively. Besides, he is scheduled to raise National Flag at Jirania Sadar sub-division as well.

In Civil Secretariat, the Chief Secretary G Kameswar Rao will host the National Flag in presence of many other dignitaries to mark the Republic Day celebration in befitting manner.

Asked about the programme schedule, a Congress party source informed that Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) would also observe the Republic Day across the state with fervor. 

The newly appointed TPCC President- Birajit Sinha would raise the National Flag in front of Agartala Congress Bhavan in presence of other Congress leaders including MLA Gopal Roy and TPCC working president- Ashis Saha. Besides, all sections of Pradesh Congress would stage different programmes across the state to mark R-Day celebration, said source.

On the other hand, ahead of Republic Day, massive security arrangements in Tripura including Indo-Bangla bordering areas have been prepared with the additional deployment of security personnel.

“Adequate security arrangements have been made as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order in state and to crackdown any effort by rebellious elements to disrupt the 65th Republic Day celebrations on Monday”, said a senior police officer.
