AGARTALA, April 6 (TIWN): Police seized 142 Kg Dry Cannabis while smuggling to Assam from Tripura, The Police seized the dry cannabis on Thursday morning at Baijalbari area on Agartala- Khowai road.

Police of Baijalbari outpost said that on the basis of secret information at around 8 o'clock on Thursday Morning, the Baijalbari outpost’s Police was on Naka checked right in front of the police station of Baijalbari outpost. During the Naka checking the Police stopped A bolero lorry of Assam register Number- AS01FC7405 was stopped and led a search while it was on the way to Assam

After the search, a total of 142 kg dry Cannabis were recovered in 17 packets inside a secret chamber box at the bolero lorry. The seized Cannabis estimated price would be around Rs 3.5 lakh.

The driver of the vehicle was Akhirul. Islam (27) has been arrested. After preliminary interrogation, it is known that he is a resident of Bangaigaon district in Assam.

The vehicle was impounded by the police. Police have filed a case under NDPS against the arrested driver.
