Agartala, January 21 (TIWN): In order to ensure power services to all the people of the state and to extend the power services in Tripura, different initiatives for implementing infrastructure have been taken to set up new division and sub-division, said a highly placed source in power department.

Besides, in collaboration with three-tier panchayats, the concerned department also planned to conduct a survey including name and full address in some places to provide electricity services where the people are still living without power facility, said source. There is no dearth of electricity pillars, he added.  

Earlier, in a review meeting, the power minister Manik Dey directed all the concerned officials of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to disconnect all the hook- lines taking legal helps and to lodge FIR in every disconnection case; said the source. The total number of hook-line users must be dropped at zero; earlier said the minister Manik Day in a statement.

The minister had also said, after disconnecting the illegal hook-lines, if any user shows interest to get power connection then the concerned officials have to provide connection instantly, said source. Besides, the minister also asked the officials to replace damage transformers soon.

The source further said, all the concerned officials would observe whether the staffs engaged in billing system are checking the meter properly or not. The department is all set to take appropriate steps against those staffs, those used to avoid their duties increasing pendency of works, said a TSECL source.

In a review meeting at Pragna Bhavan earlier on Monday, the minister also directed the concerned officials to ensure that bill is received by every consumer on time and to complete all the undergoing works for extending the electricity lines at earliest.
