Opposition unearths scam of Rs 300 Crore: Rs.156 crore only in MGNREGA; PCC to meet PM this month, CBI and ED must quiz CM on chit fund scam : Sudip

AGARTALA, January 21 (TIWN): A staggering amount of one hundred and fifty six crores of rupees is reported to be misappropriated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). And altogether thirty two blocks of the state are involved in the same. The blocks are Jolaibari, Kumarghat, Kakraban Hrishyamukh, Bishalgarh, Melaghar, Karbook, Dumburnagar, Khowai, Boxanagar, Jampuijala, Damcherra, Kathalia, Dasda, Hezamara, Mandai, Amarpur, Mungiakami, Kadamtala, Satchand, Boxanagar, Manu, Ambasa, Teliamura, Chawmanu, Tulasikhar, pecharthal, Matabari, Bakafa, Dukli, Rajnagar and Kalyanpur. While informing the facts and figures in a press meeting , at Congress Bhawan, the Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman has further informed that the PCC likely to meet the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, in the current month of January and inform him about the theft of the money allotted by the poor rural people of the state.

While taking on the Chief Minister the Opposition leader today has raised question that why no cases have not been filed apart from the Bishalgarh Rural Development (RD) block, inspite of the disclosures of misappropriation of fund by the opposition. “…. Because the CM knows that if actions are taken the officers will get angry and thus it wont be possible to continue with the chair of power.”

Non submission of utilisation certificate by different government line department government line department and Gram Panchayat under MGNREGA, retention of undistributed fund, payment of above Rs. 500 crore to the tune of Rs. 2.04 lakh  made through bearer cheque in violation of Government institution, Non submission of utilisation certificate, Non maintenance of annexure/ measurement books for different works executed and unfruitful and unauthorized expenditure are some of the charges as regards the MGNREGA. 

Besides, more than one hundred and forty four crore rupees have further been kept aside unduly under other Central sponsored Schemes (CSS) like Indira Awas Yojna and other flagship programmes of union government. While slamming some of the electronic media and websites for glorifying the understated and humble lifestyle of the CM Manik sarkar the Opposition leader has furiously stated: “Corruption has marked its footprint in every other department and ruling party’s meeting, procession and party fund are being nourished by the same.” Mr. Barman has also remarked that CPM cadres are looting the people’s money to strengthen the government. “We observed when the journalists were asking the question to the state Minister, he was overlooking and left the press meet”, the opposition leader had further added. 

Meanwhile, while speaking on the issue of chit fund the opposition leader has informed that nearly ninety two chit fund, NBFCs have left the state unduly taking away the money.

In this regard he asserted: “The Chief Minister has said the he knew that some day the chit funds will run away and if you were aware of that why did you promote them? ”

Relating to the same, Sudip Barman has remarked that CM must be enquired upon by the central investigation agency like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Alone Rose Valley is reported to remain involved in scam of Rs. 700 to 800 crores. Opposition leader has further warned that left led government by saying, “Don’t worry the headlines you watch in Daily Desher Katha regarding Saradha and all the same agencies of CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) will also be brought to Tripura, very soon.” 

Opposition leader has also informed today that the union minister of civil aviation has decided to look after the flight shortage on Tripura by sending some flights to the Tripura. Working President Asish Saha and General Secretary Ashok Sinha wre also present in today’s meeting.
