KAMALPUR, January 20 (TIWN): The role of Kamalpur Education Inspectorate came under serious scanner regarding the rampant embezzlement in the Midday Meal scheme in different schools of this subdivision. The fact unearthed after the submission of Midday Meal reports to the Inspector of Schools for the month of December 2014. A highly placed source of the Inspectorate informed TIWN about the embezzlement on the condition of anonymity.
In the month of December, the percentage of students attending the schools decreased gradually as the Annual Examination became over and the guardians often opted for tours and other leisurely activities with their spouse.
But many schools under this Inspectorate showed huge percentage of attendance almost up to 70% and prepared the report accordingly showing the expenses. But during the complete month of December, the attendance of the students never crossed the limit of 25%. As a result, almost a total amount of several lakhs of rupees embezzled. And the figure in entire district would surely cross the limit of 15 lakhs rupees, according to the source. Mysteriously, the Inspectorate received all these reports without any scrutiny. Now, the more serious matter is that, throughout the State, the same embezzlement took place. And none of the top brass enquired about it.
