AGARTALA, Jan 28 (TIWN): Tripura High Court senior Advocate, Human Rights Organization’s Secretary, a social activist Purushottom Roy Barman’s candidature in Tripura Assembly Poll has cheered the voters. He is such a candidate against whom even the ruling BJP party can not draw any accusation of wrongdoing. Purushottom Roy Barman is an iconic figure especially among the job aspirants, youths as Barman fought against corruption, stood beside the deprived and victimized population. During Covid period he engaged in massive social services and continues to be vocal against injustice, dictatorship.
He has been not only a critic of the BJP but he fought against all Govt’s wrongdoings regardless Left and Right. This time, Prushottom Roy Barman decided to fight the poll as an independent candidate. Before announcing his decision to challenge the poll, Roy Barman said, “If the fascist Govt thinks by snatching people’s voting rights it can continue to be in power, then it’s living in fools’ paradise”.

On Saturday, Purushottom Roy Barman started his door-to-door campaigning at 7-Ram Nagar constituency. On the banner of Purushottom Roy Barman it was written "Voting is my Fundamental Right".
TIWN Journalist asked him what made him decide to fight the poll, he replied, “After 5 years of BJP’s rule and massive rigging led me to decide to fight the poll. Voting is all citizens’ rights. We have to ensure that all candidates can cast vote. I am getting a very spontaneous response from the voters here”, said Barman.
