AGARTALA, Jan 27 (TIWN): Embracing doubts, criticism, media bashing gracefully, Tipra Motha Supremo Pradyot Manikya on Friday said people had reason to doubt the Party’s step because, for last many decades, the regional parties in Tripura have been cheating the people and compromising. Manikya said, “My heart did not permit for the alignment. Yes, we went to Delhi and it was widely broadcasted. We didn’t hide but they (BJP) failed to give us anything in writing".

"I already said that I will not compromise and only go for the alliance if any party promises me in writing about constitutional solution for the Greater Tipraland matter. We are going to announce the candidates’ list today”, said Pradyot Manikya on his social media page.

Tipra Motha party, the ruling ADC Party in Tripura although initiated his Tipra Motha party with Tiprasa (local tribe) based community but within a short period of time, the party reached out to non-tribe voters including religious minorities. Also, a major section of non-BJP voters joined Tipra Motha due to lack strong opposition in ADC, deep rural areas.

From this perspective, the decision of Tipra Motha is strategically correct because under BJP-IPFT’s aligned Govt from 2018 to 2023, BJP had successfully destroyed IPFT’s all existence although before 2018 Election IPFT was hugely popular among the Tiprasa. Now, to save the core-policy image of the Tipra Motha party, the decision of non-alignment and no compromise has been analyzed as a strong decision which is to strengthen the acceptability of the party to the public.

Tripura Poll is to be held on February 27 and the result will be declared on March 2nd.
