AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): An E-Rickshaw (tomtom) was hit by a 12-wheeler lorry, a total of 6 people were injured including a woman and a child. The incident took place on Thursday night on Teliamura-Khowai road at 16 Gharia area under Teliamura PS.
It is known that a 12-wheeler hit an E-Rickshaw vehicle in the 16 Gharia area while the E-Rickshaw was on the way to Teliamura-Khowai road from Teliyamura towards Teliyamura Trisha Bari railway station. A total of 6 people in the TomTom got injured after being hit by the 12-wheeler truck. Later, the people of the area after witnessing the accident, immediately rescued the injured and brought them to Teliamura sub-divisional hospital. Among the injured, a 2.5 year-old girl named Jasmoni Kurmi was seriously injured and another woman named Pinky Nomad was also reportedly seriously injured. At present, the injured are being treated at Teliamura sub- divisional hospital. It should be noted that all the injured are migrant traders from outside the state.
The E-Rickshaw that was involved in the accident was carrying a total of six passengers, which locals believe is an excessive number of passengers for this battery-powered E-Rickshaw. Needless to say, many people have been injured in E-Rickshaw accidents most of the time due to carrying an excessive number of passengers in Teliamura sub-division area, and the Teliamura Traffic Department and Transport Department are silent spectators in this regard.
On the other hand, the 12-wheeler lorry managed to run away from the spot after hitting the E-Rickshaw.
