AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): An employee of the power department was seriously injured by electrocution while repairing power lines.
The name of the injured electricity worker is Mangal Debbarma.
The incident took place in Duski area under Teliamura sub-division power department on Saturday.
It is known that for the last two days there was a power outage in Duski area under Teliamura sub-division power department.
Even after residents complained to the department, the repairing work was not done. Finally, on Saturday, Mangal Debbarma, an employee of the civil line of the department, started the repair work to solve the problem of power outage in Duski area. Unfortunately, Mangal Debbarma was electrocuted when he suddenly came in contact with high voltage electricity while working in Sarai.
The power worker started the repair work without disconnecting the power line, according to local sources.
However, the senior manager of the power department denied this fact in front of the journalists.
Allegations were raised that the accident happened due to the negligence of the department.
On the other hand, the senior manager of the office said, the work was going on after disconnecting the electricity. He said, due to the quasar, the electrical connection on the nose line got injured and the on-duty electricity worker Mangal Debbarma was injured.
Later, his colleagues rescued him in a serious condition and brought him to Teliamura sub-district hospital. As his condition is critical, the doctor on duty at Teliamura sub-district hospital immediately referred him to GB Hospital in Agartala for better treatment.
