AGARTALA, Nov 29 (TIWN): Education Department had recruited 10,323 teachers as Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), Graduate Teacher (GT) in 2010 and Under Graduate Teacher (UGT) in 2014 following all examinations and other official rules of the recruitment process. But at that time, a number of deprived unemployed approached the court complaining of irregularities in the recruitment process. Later the Tripura High Court consolidated several related cases and later the Supreme Court upheld the same judgment. By misinterpreting this judgment, the Education Department on that time without following the rules terminated the 10,323 teachers illegally from their jobs. By taking this 10,323 teacher’s jobs issue the BJP Govt promised the teachers that they will return their jobs after they came into Power but in reality the BJP Govt showed only thumb to the 10,323 teachers.

Recently, a large number of teachers filed an RTI in the Supreme Court to find out that they were never included in the case, even though they were never given any notice to defend themselves from court. As a result, those teachers and their families have been running without salary for 33 months, so far 145 teachers have died prematurely. However, after 10,323 teachers were terminated illegally the Schools have been undergoing through teacher’s crisis. As a result, the quality of education in the state has gone down.

As a result the All India Save Education Committee demanding the immediate reinstatement of the illegally dismissed teachers placed a memorandum to the Director of School Education. The committee visited the 10,323 teacher’s Hunger strike spot and also expressed their solidarity. Secretary of the committee Asit Das and vice-president Harkishore Bhowmik and other members were present while expressing solidarity.

However, it is now remains to be seen whether the state Govt. will resolve the 10,323 teacher’s issue or not before Assembly Poll.
