AGARTALA, Nov 17 (TIWN): Under the “Sushanshan” crime rates are technically downed as FIRs are not practically lodged in maximum cases. Proving this true, an incident has come out where Mohanpur BJP OBC Morcha President Prabhat Debnath had assaulted a woman but when the victim tried to lodge a complaint, Sidhai Police refused to cooperate allegedly due to political pressure. Prabhat Debnath is a close aide of Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

In an order passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate’s office dated 16-11-2022 Court has ordered Sidhai PS to lodge FIR issuing a notice to SP West. The case to be lodged U/S- 341,325,354B,509, 506 and 34  of IPC

As per the complaint, “On 21.10.2022 at about 2.25 A.M there was a fire incient at Dighalia market stalls. The victim had rushed to the spot along with her neighbours. It was at around 3.00 AM  both the accused namely Prabhat Debnath, S/O, of Late Apurba Debnath and Subrata Debnath S/O, Late Apurba Debnath of South Taranagar, PO. Dighalia Bazar, P.S. Sidhai, West Tripura came in front of the complainant and Subrata Debnath started assaulting her by giving feast and blow in her head and shoulder and tried to pull her dress. Prabhat Debnath slapped her and then the complainant fell down. He also tried to outrage  the modesty of the complainant”

“Both the accused persons were scolding the complainant with filthy and sexually coloured languages with an intention to insult the modesty of the complainant. Seeing this brother of the complainant rescued her from the clutch of the accused persons. Both the accused persons were shouting saying that they would kill the complainant and that if anybody gave shelter to her then he or she will also be killed and their property will be destroyed”, the court documents recorded the victim’s statement.

The victim was also taken for medical tests but when the victim and her family reached Sidhai PS to lodge a complaint, Police did not receive her company.

Finding no other alternatives on 11/11/2022   the complainant petitioner submitted a written application to the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura Agartala narrating the incident with a request to instruct the O.C. Sidhai P.S to register FIR and investigate the matter but to date nor any FIR has been registered neither any action has been taken against the accused persons.

The Court has asked the police to lodge the FIR under sections 341,325,354B,509,506, and 34  of IPC.

Earlier also, various times BJP workers were accused of rapes, murders but due to local MLA cum Minister Ratan Lal Nath's influence, police have been under severe pressure.
