AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): Demanding equality in legal and policing system, Congress delegations on Friday met DGP Amitabh Ranjan complaining about the discrimination in the imposition of IPCs while registering cases against ruling BJP and opposition Congress workers. Congress took the move after, in Bishalgarh BJP and Congress clash incident police took suo moto case against Congress workers whereas no action was taken against the BJP workers who had provoked the situation and held illegal gun-attack. Similar incidents were repeated multiple times in the state under BJP era but police's biased role was exposed in public, which has affected oppositions' movements.

Addressing media after the meeting with DGP, Congress leader Adv Harekrishna Bhowmik said, “In case of Congress, police are taking suo moto cases under nonbailable sections. Congress workers are getting arrested but in cases of BJP, notices are only sent with easy IPCs. We want an end to such legal discrimination in the policing and justice system. We have described the matters in detail to the DGP. We expect, he would take proper actions”.

Congress leader Asish Saha slammed the Police and SDPO Bishalgarh Rahul Das for his biased role against Congress workers even though the SDPO is aware of the real incidents and knows how the Bishalgarh incident developed. Saha condemned the attitude of the police under political pressure to lodge false cases against the victims and to give clean chits to the culprits.
