AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): The agitating 10323 teachers were arrested by NCC PS Police on Tuesday before sunrise in Agartala who were in protest to meet Chief Minister Biplab Deb. The protest was organized by Joint Movement Committee (JMC) of the 10323 teachers seeking an appointment to meet the Chief Minister from Monday 10 am. However, the terminated teachers though did not get any appointment from the CM but few were injured allegedly in police lathi-charge and over 300 were arrested on Monday itself but some of the 10323 teachers continued their protest at Circuit House whole night.
During night-long protests, miscreants and bike gangs of the ruling BJP party allegedly harassed them and finally before dawn, 10323 teachers who were protesting have been arrested by police.
Though before sunrise, no woman can be arrested as per Indian law, 10323 teachers' demonstration was stopped and women were also detained before the sunrise.
10323 teachers lost their jobs based on interpretation of the judgment of High Court and Supreme Court during the Left Govt. BJP in 2018 as opposition party promised the terminated teachers to solve their problems by any mean. As the BJP Govt now has failed to keep its promise, the 10323 teachers have started their movement.
