AGARTALA, December 31 (TIWN): Few days back Health Minister announced Santirbazar Hospital will be the district Hospital and Manik sarkar will inaugurate it on 9th Jaunaury in view of 3rd Sub Divisional CPIM Party Meet at Santirbazar.
But the fact is, Santirbazar rural hospital has no basic infrastructure, rather Belonia referral hospital has good infrastructure at present. Everything is available in the town including transport communication , electricity, drinking water, education etc. The common people of Belonia thought Belonia Referral Hospital would be the District Hospital .
Moreover Chief Medical Officer has also been appointed here . Section of people belive that for creating Santirbazar District Hospital is due to geographical location of the hospital as it is near the National Highway 44. According to source the average number of patients in Belonia Referral Hospital is about 200, sometimes it crosses 250.
New building of Belonia Hospital is already completed to provide modern medical service. Infrastructure for modern medical service including blood bank, operation theatre, cesarean system, ICU etc are available here. Moreover sufficient staff quarters are also available here. Santirbazar,Baikhora,Jolaibari,Sabroom are also not far from Belonia either. Road communication with rural areas with belonia are also satisfactory and most of the road is under PMGSY schame. All kinds of vehicles and petrol pumps here .
Plenty of medical shops are available with life saving drugs infront of the Belonia referral hospital.
But Chief Minister Manik Sarkar decided to convert Santirbazar rural hospital as District Hospital rather than Belonia referral hospital.
