UDAIPUR, Oct 12 (TIWN): Fishy smell has hit Udaipur historical place Durga temple (famously known as Hari Mandir) on the bank of Jagannath Lake near Udaipur Post Office. The fish market was opened on the door of the temple keeping the Covid situation in mind but the place was a wrong one from the religious perspective. It resulted in a massive dirty smell hitting the temple premise since Covid time. Heavy resentment erupted among the devotees as on the occasion of Durga puja, it has become difficult to stay in the temple for a long time due to the smell.Locals and devotees have demanded to remove the market at the earliest as it is damaging the temple environment.
There are lots of places where the fish market could be opened but removing the fish market from Udaipur town, it has shifted to the Durga Bari premise, which has resulted in horrifying pollution, rotten fishy smells.
Apart from temple issues, the polluted environment is also disrupting common people's lives who are residing at the east side of the Jagannath lake bank due to the fish market.

This Durga Bari temple is situated by the east bank of Jagannath Dighi. Detail information about the temple is not available, though it seems the temple possessed stone-inscriptions. Perhaps it was built some time in the last quarter of the 17th century. It's still unknown who built the temple. When and for which deity has it been built is not known either. The temple was once recovered from the grasp of creeping vegetation in 1901 A.D and a painting of Radhakrishna had been installed inside and it was adorned as 'Hari Mandir'. Right now, Basanti puja is the biggest festival of this temple.
