AGARTALA, Sep 30 (TIWN): In an interactive session with press, the singer-turned politician, who has recently joined Trinamool Congress from BJP, Babul Supriyo alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has no trust left for the Bengali people as not a single MP from West Bengal was offered the berth of a cabinet minister under Modi Government since 2014.
"In the last seven years the Prime Minister has not really been able to trust the Bengalis, otherwise how would you clarify as to why a single BJP MP from West Bengal has not been given the role of a Cabinet Minister? It has always been a ‘Minister of State’. It goes to show that the PM can not rely on Bengalis which shouldn’t have been the case. I will certainly say that to some extent there is some inequality towards BJP MPs elected from West Bengal", Supriyo said.
He also alleged that the leaders who have joined BJP from West Bengal failed to connect with the party's Central leadership. Giving example of Ahluwalia he added, "I’m not talking about myself. (S.S) Ahluwaliaji is a senior member, he had come from Congress and even he wasn’t given an independent charge. Somewhere I felt that there is discrimination against the elected representatives from Bengal in the council of ministers."
After this statement of Former Union Minister of State, Babul Supriyo a political stir has been created among the leaders of different political parties, especially BJP. Although the State BJP leadership refrained themselves from commenting on Babul's sudden political and ideological shifting, but
BJP’s Barrackpore MP, a Trinamul turncoat, Arjun Singh termed Babul as "traitor" after this statement.
"“Traitors always look for newer excuses to betray. Babul Supriyo is one such traitor. He should be ashamed of accusing Prime Minister even when he was made the Union Minister day after he started politics."
