DHAMANAGAR, Sep 22 (TIWN): On 21.09.2021, the Ld. Special Judge, North Tripura, Dharmanagar has convicted one accused namely Md Matachin Ali (35) S/o. Lt. Kanai Miah of Purba Fulbari, PS-Churaibari , North Tripura and sentenced him to suffer R.I for 03 (Three) Years for the commission of the offence punishable U/S 498 (A) IPC and also liable to pay a fine of Rs 10,000/-& ID of payment such fine, to suffer R.I for further period of 06 (Six) month & the convict is also sentenced to suffer R.I for life for the commission of offence punishable U/s 302 IPC and to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000/- for the said offence & ID of Payment of such fine to undergo RI for further period of 06 (six) month both the sentences shall run concurrently. This refers to Churaibari PS Case No. 2018CRB061, Dt. 17.12.2018, U/S 498(A)/302 of IPC.

The Case was registered on 17.12.18 on the written complaint of the brother of the deceased namely Ali Miah S/O Lt. Abdul Latif of Fulbari, Ward No- 05, PS Churaibari  to the fact that, the FIR named AP namely Matachin Ali (husband of deceased) used to frequently assaulted his wife physically and mentally. On 16.12.18 at about 1600 hrs the FIR named AP forcibly set fire on his wife by pouring Kerosene oil, for the purpose of killing her. As a result Tahamina Begam received grievous burnt injuries on her person. On hearing the hue and cry, the local villagers came in her house and shifted her to Kadamtala C.H.C by Fire Service. Thereafter she was shifted to GBP Hospital Agartala for better treatment with serious condition and she breathed her last there.

 The case was investigated by SI Sadhan Majumder of Churaibari PS, now posted at South Tripura District. During investigation I.O of the case had taken all efforts to complete investigation on priority basis. Based on evidences and record, the accused person was arrested and forwarded to the Ld. Court. On completion of the investigation, the I.O had submitted Charge-Sheet on 30.11.19, U/S 498(A)/302 IPC against the FIR named accused, namely Matachin Ali (35) S/O Lt. Kanai Miah of East Fulbari, Ward No- 04, PS Churaibari, North Tripura.

On completion of the trial, the Ld. Special Judge (District & Session Judge) North Tripura, convicted the accused as stated above. Ld. PP Sri Partha Paul has represented the case as Public Prosecutor.
