AGARTALA, Aug 18 (TIWN): Based on secret information, a large police and TSR force led by Kumarghat SDPO, Gamanjoy Riang and Pechartal PS, OC Jahangir Hossain have seized a six-wheeler lorry with narcotic items at checking Point in front of Pechartal PS around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
The police recovered huge amount of phensedyl from the seized lorry registered No- WB23C8397 which was carrying inedible apples. During the search in the lorry 8500 phensedyl bottles were recovered from 85 cartons and the huge amount of phensedyl were brought to Tripura from Guwahati on August 11.
In this connection the driver, Nur Alam (45), and the co-driver Holikat Ali (42) were arrested and both are residents of West Bengal.
DCM Sourav Alam was present with the police as an executive magistrate during the search. Police sources said that a case has been registered against the suspects under NDPS Act. Police said the market value of the recovered drugs would be more than 80 lakhs, and the detainees will be produced to the District and Sessions Judge's Court.
