AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): SUCI has protested over price hike of CNG, Cooking Gas. After staging demonstration SUCI (C) leaders handed over memorandum to the TNGCL managing director over price of CNG at TNGCL office at Krishnanagar.
TNGCL authorities have increased the price of CNG by Rs 2 per kg and pipeline gas by Rs 1 per unit which was effective from August 1. The price hike of CNG hit normal people's lives as many private employees, day laborers, migrant workers, construction workers, small traders, have lost their jobs for a long time due to Covid situation.
Along with the price hike of CNG, the prices of petrol, diesel and cylinder gas, including daily necessities are increasing uncontrollably which has become heavy burden on common people and amid the increasing prices on everything the government is not taking any positive steps to curb inflation. On the other hand, TNGCL's customer service has also come to a standstill, bills are being sent every two to three months gaping without meter reading and due to such negligence, the customers are being harassed.
In protest of the gas price hike SUCI (C) today staged a protest in front of TNGCL's Krishnanagar office. Later, a delegation from the protest meeting handed over a memorandum to the Managing Director of TNGCL with the following demands:- 1) The increased price of CNG and pipeline gas should be withdrawn immediately. 2) TNGCL's customer service needs to be further improved. 3) In every month regular meter readings should be done and the customer’s bill paper has to be delivered in due time.
