AGARTALA, June 30 (TIWN): On July 9, 2020, IPFT ex-MLA Brishketu Debbarma had told media that under BJP Govt, there is no freedom of any MLA and it was affecting the IPFT party also. But his statement was ignored just like other resented BJP MLAs' statements had been ignored in Tripura, resulting in the BJP party losing its root in the state and IPFT which has already lost its support base in state now lost a popular face from the party. After resigning, the ex-MLA alleged that there was no freedom while working as an MLA. Brishaketu Debbarma said, in politics there is no freedom. He has no intention to continue politics in future but he will work for the people."It is not important to hold a post to work for the people. Without being in politics, social works can be done", said Debbarma. On being asked, whether he is interested to stand in bye-election for Simna constituency, the MLA said, he has no interest at least for now but in future what will happen only time will show. However, Assembly Speaker Rebati Mohan Das has rejected IPFT MLA Brishketu Debbarma's resignation letter which he submitted yesterday evening.

Brishketu would be the first person since BJP-IPFT Govt formation to quit the party. He is Simna-1 constituency MLA, was resented over IPFT for many days. Nevertheless, citing "No message chat is a proper communication form of resignation letter submission", the Speaker has clearly said that unless the MLA meets him personally, his application is not acceptable. The speaker also said that he will verify whether any provocation is behind the resignation and unless he (the Speaker) is satisfied, the resignation letter will not be accepted.

"No MLA can resign without a satisfying cause which should be placed before the Speaker and IPFT MLA Brishketu Debbarma has not shown any proper reason yet for his resignation. Moreover, he has not met me personally. So his resignation is still not declared as accepted just because he sent it through message", said Tripura Assembly Speaker MLA Rebati Mohan Das.

The statement came after IPFT MLA Brishketu Debbarma had resigned from MLA post and his resignation letter was also made public, went viral in social media.

In reply to media queries, Speaker Rebati Das today said that the MLA could not show any proper reason behind his resignation and thus his resignation is not yet valid until he submits his resignation letter to the Speaker personally. The Speaker also said, he has to check whether anyone has provoked the MLA to do this or not.

On the other side, Brisketu Debbarma has personally confirmed his resignation before the media today.

MLA Birshaketu Debbarma had submitted his resignation letter to the Assembly Speaker yesterday. In the letter, the MLA wrote, "I Brishaketu Debbarma, S/O-Rabindra Debbarma, resident of Nanda Para, of Dasgharia..........was elected as MLA from Simna (1) constituency from the IPFT party and now due to some personal reasons, I tendering my resignation as MLA from the said Assembly constituency.......I request you to kindly consider my letter as resignation letter...."

This loss for BJP-IPFT was reported amid the majority of the BJP MLAs have been demanding immediate replacement of Biplab Deb from CM post.
