AGARTALA, June 25 (TIWN): Tripura Tafashili Jati Samannoy Samiti has placed a deputation to the Director SW & SE, Director of Social Welfare and Social Education Rupak Bhattacharjee about statewide cancellation of social pensions which is taking away lives of poor people.
In the name of investigating / reviewing social pensions, the Govt has stopped many people's social pensions.
A 95 years old woman in Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath's Mohanpur constituency was also deprived of social pension.
Addressing the media, CPI-M MLA Sudhan Das said that only because political idenity of the beneficiary such steps are being taken.
However, it's a genuine question that how poor people in their old age manage all documents, papers to get social pensions ? Such inhuman decisions of the Social Welfare Dept has been consistently criticized in various media but the Govt has not shown any humanity to restore the allowances causing poverty, hunger, and crisis.
