Agartala, Dec 16 (TIWN): A 26-year-old youth was killed centering a dispute over consuming alcohol at Tairajbari area under Sedhai police station in the wee-hours of Monday night. The deceased was identified as Shaymal Debbarma (26), resident of Tairajbari area, said police.
An FIR was lodged in this regard against Hiran Debbarma, resident of Tairajbari area and Rajesh Debbarma of Saidharam Thakur para at the Sedhai police station but police could not arrest the killers as they fled away after killing Shyamal.
According to the police, Shyamal went to attend a marriage ceremony last night at the same area. Another two youths Hiran Debbarma and Rajesh Debbarma after consuming heavy alcohol also went to attend the same marriage ceremony. The three youths had a speech-battle centering a dispute over consuming alcohol during the wedding ceremony, said police.
As a result, intoxicated Rajesh and Hiran turned aggressive and came out from the matrimonial house immediately. Since then they were waiting for Shyamal inside the road.
Police further said, the incident took place when Shyamal came out from the house after the completion of wedding ceremony, Hiran and Rajesh attacked on him by axe at Tairajbari area, adjacent to Anganwadi Center in the wee-hours of last night. As a result, Shyamal received grievous injuries on his person and died on the spot, confirmed police.
After noticing the body, the locals informed to police, this morning. Later, police visited the place of occurrence and recovered the body. However, police are investigating the matter and also trying to arrest the killers.
