AGARTALA, June 12 (TIWN): Drug smuggling and consumption both have increased under BJP regime, no path to curb these drug smuggling in the state even after governments tall claims of “Nesha Mukta Tripura''. Income less situation under BJP era in Tripura many people are being involved with various illegal businesses for livelihood. Drug dealers are running a rampant business across the state but no path to stop drug dealers from drugs trade. Police arrests the drug peddlers but shortly they are released, such an allegation Lankamura locals raised and gheraoed the West Agartala PS to take strong steps against the drug peddlers.

Lankamura Locals alleged the drug dealers Pintu Malakar and his wife, Manik Das, Dilip Das and Nirupam are involved with drug dealing in the area. Many times they were caught by locals and handed over to the police, but allegedly police released those drug-peddlers in a short time. Due to their illicit business the youths of the area are being destroyed but even then their illegal business could not stop.

On being asked about informing the MLA in this regard, a local said after BJP coming into power only once the MLA, Dilip Das visited the area, the MLA didn’t even communicate with the local people further. The local also added, if the MLA does not visit the area then how will he get to know about the situation of the area’s people?

Now the Lankamura area people are demanding the police should take strong initiative to stop the illicit business in the area. Now it remains to be seen whether the police will take strong action against the drug peddlers or after arresting them would be released shortly.
