Agartala, December 15 (TIWN): In order to huss up their black marketing, some of the owners of the ticket agencies on Monday met with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to get required blessings to save themselves from CID. The team comprises of Amalendu Chowdhury, Shailen Chowdhury, Dulan Saha, Goutam Ghosh, Rabindra Chakraborty and Shantanu Saha.
According to CID sources, lots of irregularities are coming out in CID investigation regarding alleged black-marketing of air tickets, for last couple of days, CID carried investigating at number of agencies where they found serious irregularities regarding group ticket booking. After completion of investigation, police likely to arrest those found responsible in creating crisis, a list is being prepared, CID sources said. In order to avoid arrest, the owners had taken the step to take shelter under Chief Minister.
Black market travel agents profited from the scheme by depriving the needy people. Then purchase the airline tickets at no cost to themselves, and then sell the ticket to their customers. Many of their customers, who usually paid, knew the tickets were not legitimately purchased. Some of the customers have been charged in the indictments, the sources further mentioned.
This situation occurs when paper tickets were still frequently used, a practice existed by travellers to get rid of their tickets (which are person-specific), when they decided to alter the course of their trips. This practice consisted of selling the ticket to other travellers (often at discount prices), after which the seller accompanied the buyer at the time of departure to the airport. Here, the original owner checked in under his name and provided the airline with the buyer's baggage. After this, the buyer boarded the airplane at the moment of departure. However, since most airlines check identification on boarding, this procedure is rarely functional. But due to cancel of some flights this business again paved its way.
For last one month people were facing shortage of air tickets, but tickets are available if paid double or triple the scheduled price. Due to crisis, people passing through serious problem mainly those going for treatment. The problem became worse after suspension of train service due to work of BG conversion work, besides some private carriers like Jet Airways withdrawn their service from Agartala airport. The Tripura government and police administration is still remained silent after knowing everything. As a result their passengers’ suffering increased in the state. If the government does not interfere and solve the crisis immediately then in coming days the problem would aggravate the present crisis.
