AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): Police and TSR personnel under the leadership of Irani PS, OC, Alamgir Hossain recovered 2 smugglers while they were smuggling 9 cows to Bangladesh from Futani Bazar area of Srinathpur Vill Panchayat.

The OC, Alamgir Hossain noticing high speed of Van regd No- TR02B1640 chased after the van, detained and led a search, while it was heading towards the International India-Bangladesh border at Hirachhara area through Futani Bazar area of Srinathpur Vill Panchayat.

Reportedly 9 cows were found while being smuggled, police arrested the two smugglers.

The cows were bought from the fish market of Dhalai district and were on the way to Bangladesh, said OC, Alomgir Hossain.  Question is being raised on the role of Kailasahar PS, OC Partha Munda that despite checking point at the airport road under Kailasahar PS how the cows were being smuggled?

Sources said OC of Kailasahar PS is directly involved with illegal activities as a few days ago the OC Parth Munda had seized cannabis along with the Bangladeshi nationals but later the cannabis was hidden by the OC.  The market value of the rescued cows in India is about two and a half lakh rupees but the market value of these cows in Bangladesh is about seven and a half lakh rupees, said the OC, Alomgir Hossain of Irani PS.  However, sources from the Srinathpur area said a brother of a local leader of the ruling party is involved in this smuggling.
