AGARTALA, May 30 (TIWN): Illegal drug trafficking is rampantly increasing in the state, contraband items trafficking in border areas too have raised. Amid state government’s long claims of Nesha Mukta Tripura mastermind contraband items dealers are running their illegal trade efficiently. The ground reality is there is no curb of illegal items trafficking in the Hira era. A huge quantity of illegal dried cannabis was recovered from a 10-wheeler truck in Kalyanpur area while being trafficked in other states.
On Saturday while the Teliamura police were in tight vigilance, a 10 wheeler lorry registered No- WB65B6771 tried to flee away from the checking point. Later, a huge police force under the leadership of Teliamura SDPO, Sonacharan Jamatia chased the 10-wheeler lorry and arrested it from the Hawai area of Kalyanpur.
Police seized a huge amount of dry cannabis from the lorry, weight- 305 kg 500 gm.
Upon receiving the news, DSP Traffic Bikramjit Shukla Das and police force of Kalyanpur PS rushed to the scene and arrested the lorry driver Manajeet Debbarma, Police sources said he is residing at Dashda Kanchanpur.
Later, the driver including the vehicle was taken to Kalyanpur PS for further investigation.
