AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): The Crime and Corporation Control Awareness Society, a branch of the Southern District, gave a deputation to the Belonia Fisheries Supervisor's Office to save a large pond.

As the locals claimed, the reservoir is being destroyed due to some unscrupulous traders, alleging that the South District Branch of the Crime and Corporation Control Awareness Society had given deputations to the caretaker officer on various representative demands.     Suman Pal, Jiban Dey, Ajitava Majumder, Biplab Majumder, Bijan Majumder, and a few other locals went to the office and handed over the demand to the Fisheries Officer.

After the deputation was paid, one of the representatives said to the media, ”The reservoir is going to be destroyed due to some unscrupulous traders and we demanded the official to save the reservoir.”

The reservoir adjacent to Bilonia Hospital, which is used by the Fisheries Department to irrigate the area every year but in the name of fish farming, is losing its ecosystem and the water source of the reservoir is being wasted.

The people of the Banshpara Colony area are dependent on this water body.

Due to fish farming, the water of the reservoir is being drained by the fire brigade and the reservoir is drying up, causing great inconvenience to the locals. Their statement is to cultivate fish but the method of fish farming should not irrigate the reservoir.

The Society demanded that the reservoir be renovated as well as to be cleaned and beautified.
