AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): Packets of cannabis seized at the Indo-Bangladesh border while trafficking to Bangladesh. Police arrested a drug smuggler in this case. The incident took place in Puran Garad village of Sarala village under Kadamtala police station.
According to police sources, on the basis of a tip-off, the police of Kadamtala PS conducted a search operation in the Puran Garad Vill area, 4th ward of Sarala Vill Panchayat on the instructions of the superintendent of police of the North District. The drug traffickers fled away after dropping several packets of cannabis when police chased them on Thursday night. However, Police were able to arrest one trafficker.
The arrested trafficker identified as Santosh Tanti, 26 years old is residing at Sarala Vill Panchayat. Police recovered a total of 25 kg and 500 gm of cannabis. The arrested trafficker, Santosh will be produced before court on today by seeking police remand.
Meanwhile, according to the police, the other smugglers name will come up who is involved with the smuggling case after interrogation.
