AGARTALA, May 26(TIWN): Along with the entire nation, Tripura on Wednesday celebrates Buddha Purnima, the day Lord Buddha was born with full devotion. But this year the gathering of devotees was noticed less due to COVID pandemic situation.
The celebration is being held at the Benuban Bihar in Kunjaban, Agartala, devotees’ lighted candles and offer prayers. Buddha Jayanti falls on the full moon day of Vaisakh(April-May).
Every year people from other religions too gather and pray for peace in monasteries and temples along with the entire nation. But this year the scenario was different, no gathering was observed in Benuban Vihar.
However, unlike every year no fair would be held. However, Benuban Vihar monastery in Agartala is considered as one of the important pilgrim centers of Buddhism in Northeast India. By maintaining government COVID guidelines to mark the auspicious day the idol of Buddha was worshipped.
