AGARTALA, December 14 (TIWN): Power cut in entire South Tripura and Gomati district for the last couple of days hits the normal life of the local people. Life and business has been largely affected due to power cuts enforced every day for 6 to 12 hours.
Power failure also disrupts the life at the hospitals under the mentioned district, where the doctors sees difficulties in treating the patients in candle light. The locals alleged that the officials don’t even receive their call over phone. Several times they had made a call to the officials but the phone line comes engaged, alleged locals.
The concerned electricity officials informed that the entire power transmission line of the south district is under maintenance due to which the power supply at the areas was cut for the last couple of days.
It is mentionable that Tripura has become self sufficient(on paper) in electricity sector after the ambitious plants at Palatana in south Tripura was commissioned and ONGC is major shareholder of Palatana.
It is also to be mentioned that a few days back the Gomati district suffered from a water crisis after the concerned water treatment plant was shut down due to the oil spill detected at the river Gomati. Though the situation is under control now with a rise of another power cut for the last couple of days.
