AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): Drug smuggling in Tripura at a massive rise and everyday there are reports of Drug-racket busting by police and public, as on Saturday four persons including a woman were arrested by Ramanagar police under NDPS act. At first local people caught four of them at Ramnagar in front of a tea stall and then they called police. Police arrested all of them and brought to Ramanagar outpost, started questioning them for further information. Talking to a police official he said, huge numbers of tablets have been recovered from them and now in this purpose they are being interrogated. An arrested man (auto driver) said that he took her in reserve at the cost of Rs. 200 and at Gol Bazar she bought vegetables.
Then she asked him to take her to a tea stall and then he took her to a tea stall at Ramnagar but local people caught them. She was reportedly not coming out of the auto but later after she came out tablets were found with her. After the recovery, locals informed police about the incident and police arrested all of them. Thorough interrogations are going on by Police and police trying to find the truth behind the incident and who are actually involve in this racket.
Other arrested men also claimed to be innocent and all blamed the woman, saying, they have no link with drug smuggling. Police are now interrogating them.
One arrested Ripan Deb said that he has no link with the woman and he went out for medicine for his wife. He said, he does not even know who is the woman and after purchasing medicine, he was just went there for tea.
