AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): On Tuesday, Tripura has reported 0.40% positivity rate rise in comparison to Monday's 7.22%. In last 24 hours Covid Positivity rate has jumped to 7.62% with 746 new Coronavirus cases in this state. Death toll is also high at 5. Total 9,789 samples were tested and out of that 746 persons were tested Covid Positive. Minister Ratanlal Nath has stated in evening press briefing that this is the record number of Covid test in Tripura and he further assured that vaccine crisis will be mitigated soon as talks with Centre today held in this regard. Total 317 patients were recovered from Covid-19 today. Ratanlal Nath also informed media that in Agartala, the positivity rate is 18%, where Curfew is going on for 10 days. At the same time, State Govt has continued vaccination drive and the existing shortage which was felt will be mitigated, said the Minister.
In Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) curfew has been continuing on Day-2. The Curfew started on May 17 and to end on May 26. As per latest 24 hours report, Tripura has recorded 335 new Covid positive cases and 4 deaths. Ahead of the Curfew, in whole Tripura, the highest Covid cases were reported in the AMC areas and DM West thus has announced a 10 days curfew in the AMC areas. Covid-Curfew has been imposed for 10 days in Agartala Municipal Corporation areas from 17th May morning 5 AM.Except emergency purposes all movements have been curbed, though essential commodities shops, fuel stations and other Telecommunication Service Centres remain under functioning. Though markets with vegetables, food items were found open but hardly customers were seen as the District Magistrate had ordered people to stay "indoors" except for utmost needs.
