AGARTALA / GUWAHATI, April 29 (TIWN): Amid massive COVID surges across India, Tripura continues COVID test of passengers if they don't have COVID negative report of 74 hours before in any of the Entry points like Airport, Checkpost, Churaibari, Railways. With these deaths, the toll of Covid19 fatalities in Assam reached 1,255, Northeast Now reported.On Wednesday, Assam reported 22 Covid19 deaths, which is the highest number of fatalities in the second wave of the pandemic. Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his Twitter handle informed that the state reported 3,045 new Covid19 positive cases in the last 24 hours.The Assam health minister informed that the new cases were confirmed out of 55,480 tests. The overall positivity percentage of Assam stood at 5.49% on Wednesday. Of the new Covid19 positive cases, the Kamrup Metro district registered 1,206 cases, health minister Sarma said. Assam’s recovery rate on Wednesday stood at 90.77%.Â
As per Health Dept's guidelines in Tripura, COVID testing has been made mandatory for all passengers who are entering Tripura from other states. In Agartala MBB Airport and other entry points like Churabari, Checkpost, Railways same rules are implemented. However, travelers who are already vaccinated and having COVID test's (done within 72 hours) negative reports in hands do not need to re-test in the entry points. But in an alarming note, it has been informed that 5% passengers are COVID-19 positive."5% is a huge figure. We were testing the Maharashtra passengers and 5% of them are positive............", said the Airport authority.Tripura Health Dept has set a rule that whoever is entering Tripura must have their COVID negative reports or they will be tested in the Airport.
