AGARTALA, March 22 (TIWN): Dead-Body of Bangladesh national has been handed over to the family who was killed in BSF firing over alleged cattle smuggling row.
Centering this incident, in Bangladesh protests were staged. Today with the initiative of Tripura Police, dead-body has been handed over to Bangladesh. Bangladesh Police and the family have thanked Tripura Police for their kind effort to hand-over the dead-body.
The incident took place in Dharmanagar's Yaqubnagar border on March 20, very early morning at around 3 pm, when a Bangladeshi citizen had been killed in BSF 166 Bn firing.
The named Abdul Roop East Batuli Ps, Juri Dist Moulabi Bazar.
BSF stated that he was a cattle smuggler. In statement BSF DIG Rajeev Dua said, "Who will come at night 3 am with weapons near fencing unless s/he having a ill intention ? Self-defence is even a citizen's right. So, can't to defend ourselves ?", said the BSF officer over the death of the Bangladeshi national.
Today, the dead-body was handed-over to the family and both side's troops said that this incident will not lead any tension and it was an accident only. Relation between both countries will be as well as now.
