AGARTALA, March 13 (TIWN): CPIM held a massive protest meet in Sonamura today in protest of increase in prices of daily necessities including petrol and diesel where the presence of former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and former minister Shahid Chowdhury has thundered the youth of town today.
Opposition leader Manik Sarkar criticized the central BJP government's unbridled price hike on petrol and essential commodities and contradicted the newly passed anti-farmer bill, which has let the farmers go on hunger strike for over 100 days, but the ruling government showed no mercy.
He said, “This BJP government is conducting its rule by killing peasants and democracy.”
He added that the state BJP government had recently completed its third anniversary but they have not been able to do any work for the welfare of the people till now.
The leader also criticized Biplab Kumar Deb’s inability to implement the promises made in BJP’s pre-election vision documents.
However, the presence of people from all walks of life, starting from the youth of the society, was noticeable today, which will have an impact on upcoming ADC elections, experts claimed.
