AGARTALA, Feb 21 (TIWN): 'International Mother Language Day' has been observed in Tripura, jointly organized by Tripura Govt and Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner Office.
In this regard a colourful rally was organized in the capital city Agartala. Education Minister Ratanlal Nath, Bangladesh Asst High Commissioner and officials were present in the rally. International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. The aim behind the day is to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
The General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization announced the International Day of Mother Tongue in November 1999.The protests that erupted on February 21, 1952, in then East Pakistan against the imposition of Urdu launched the Bengali language movement in Bangladesh, and is the nucleus of the International Mother Language Day.
