UDAIPUR,December 5 (TIWN): Since the inauguration of the Goamti District hospital at Tepania, a section of Health Officials obviously under the instruction of influential leaders of CPI(M) Udaipur Divisional Committee is trying to cripple the Tripura Sundari Hospital, formerly District Hospital. On 19th June 2012 Gomati District Hospital was inaugurated and during the inaugural programme the then Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty categorically assured the people of Udaipur," Even a needle won't be shifted from the Tripura Sundari Hospital to the Gomati District Hospital. All the infrastructures will be created selarately in District Hospital. And Tripura Sundari Hospital will remain functioning as Sub Divisional Hospital with all its existing services."

Even recently during the inauguration of Rajarshi Multi-Cultural Complex at Udaipur replying to a question of R K Pur MLA Pranajit Singha Roy Chief Minister Manik Sarkar too assured all the people of Udaipur ," Neither State Govt nor Health Department has any intention to close the Tripura Sundari Hospital. It will continue to work as a Sub Divisional Hospital in its existing place. " On this programme Manik Sarkar also said that whatever equipments or machineries were shifted from Tripura Sundari Hospital was purely conducted by the District Officials of the Health Department. But till today efforts are on to cripple the Tripura Sundari Hospital.

       Even on Friday a section of health officials started to remove various equipments from the Sub Divisional Hospital. It was at around 12.30pm. As soon as the local business and patient parties saw this they protested strongly against such transhiftment. At once more and more crowd gathered there. Opposition Congress too did not lose anytime to make it an issue. It is to be mentioned here that during the last one year Udaipur District Congress, CPI(ML) Liberation and the local businessmen have been protesting against the one sided told played by the Health Ministry.

      It is learnt that total plan is being made by the powerful lobby of CPI(M) party of Udaipur . However, toady all the people unitedly protested against this. At once more and more people grew. At 1pm they gheraod the vehicle by which the machineries and other equipments were going yo be shifted. Even the people threw some of the equipments like chairs and tables from lorry. Only on 29th November in the Rogi Kalyan Samiti's(RKS) meeting it was decided that no existing services of Tripura Sundari Hospital will be stopped. But quite contrary to this decision powerful employee of the CPI(M),'s employees wings of Health Dealartment took the initiative to shift these machineries. Even he sent his wife , another employee of Health Department, to complete the mission.

       But under united efforts from local people , opposition parties CMO Dr Nirumohan Jamatia, SDMO Dr Bishnu Dey and Medical Super of District Hospital took help from SDM Udaipur Ajit Debnath to control the situation. Immediately SDM Udaipur Ajit Debnath rushed to the spot and started negotiating with the agitated people. In front of all the officials of Health Department one patient( unwilling to reveal her name) said ," For the last three days I have benn admitted in this hospital but every day the doctors on duty are telling me that I can't any treatment here as there is no health care services exisiting . They are asking me to go to District Hospital. " Another patient also complained to the SDM ," Even when I was asked to check my BP the staffs of the Tripura Sundari Hospital told me that the Pressure Checking machines from this hospital were taken away from here to the Gomati District Hospital." Being stunned to here all these from the patients SDM Udaipur Ajit Debnath asked CMO and SDMO to clarify all these issue but none could give him correct reply.

      Speaking to TIWN Udaipur District Congress General Secretary Tridib Kanti Dassaid ," Prime Minister of India has already declared that in each district hospital funds will be provided to maintain health care services. And as Gomati District Hospital has started functioning recently, naturally funds will be allocated for it also. Why is the need to shift such things from Sub Divisional Hospital? This is purely with an intention to cripple this hospital. " Surprisingly today Medical Super issued an order to shift ' OT instruments' and this clearly indicated that Health Department even does not want to retain the minor OT facilities here. Reacting to this Tridib Kanti Das said," It is totally inhuman that even the ultra violate chamber that is occasionally used soon after child birth was shifted from the Sub Divisional Hospital. It means if a child needs to be heated after birth, the hospital can't provide it. And at the same time this may be fatal for the newly born child. "

      However, SDM Udaipur Ajit Debnath took a stern measure and instructed CMO, SDMO and Medical Super not to shift any equipment and machinery from this hospital without informing him. SDM also assured the agitated people and patients that they won't be deprived of getting health care services. After getting his verbal assurence people withdrew the movement.
